Goodbye Nannie

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that at sunrise this morning Faye Chetwynd passed away in Shelburne surrounded by family. She had a great day yesterday with bright eyes, lots of visitors, she was laughing and listening to stories.
That night when the nurse tucked her in for the night Faye said "I'm ready", she passed away quietly hours later.
Please send your thoughts, prayers and good wishes to all of the Chetwynd family.
Mom and Dad will be flying into Halifax Airport Tuesday afternoon (the earliest flight from Dublin) you can give them a call then.
We love you all
Sandra
Please leave a comment, I am sure Mom will find your thoughts a great comfort

When Tricia and I got the call that it looked as if Nannie would pass in hours not days, I drove from my apartment to Hammonds Plains to pick Tricia up but we were already too late. I wanted to wish Nannie a safe journey and tell her how much Mom (and I) love her. I also wanted her to know how much of the freedom I enjoy in my life I attributed to her and her sacrifices. I know she loved that I was able to pursue my education and I think she got a kick out of my bachelorette-hood. She would almost wink about me finding a good man and accepting no less. I've been able to do so many things in my short life that Nannie and others made possible and I wanted her to know I am eternally grateful.

Some of my favourite thoughts of Nanny are baking with her in the kitchen. I used to watch and be amazed at how she knew how to make these things without a recipe book. I remember she used to get me to stir the peanut butter fudge because it took FOREVER. I have only managed to make it right myself a few times but she always got it right.

I remember for Christmas one year I told mom to get Nanny some new wooden spoons because hers were all worn out. I came to find out Christmas morning that she like them all worn out that meant the were well used.

I will miss you Nanny and to me peanut better fudge will always be "Nannies Fudge"

Love,
Tricia
