It's Been a While

Well hello everyone. It has certainly been a while hasn't it since I was on here. Thanks to Sandra for at least posting a couple of times to this space. I find that "blogging" is like exercise, for me at least, I have to force myself to fit it into my day just like another chore I have to do. Now that I said that I see that it looks like I meant I don't like to update my blog which is not true. It is just that it takes time and time is something I do not always have.

A little update on Mom. She is now in Shelburne hospital and has been since January 3rd. She is quite comfortable there, she likes the staff and the food and is doing much better. She is receiving pain medication through a patch so is in no discomfort at all and is able to get up on her own, eats well etc. The hospital is now trying to place her in a residental care facility in the area as she no longer needs the hospital but cannot live at her home. Hopefully she will be able to go to a place called Mary's Bide-a-While which is right on the main street in Shelburne. She would have her own bedroom but share a common living room and dining room etc. I told her that it will be just like the hospital inasmuch as she will only have to dress herself and bath etc. but they will give her her meds and cook and serve all her meals etc. She seems to be okay with it but sometimes she is quite weepy. Who can blame her? She has had a lot thrown at her in the last few months. I had even considered having her here with me but it would have cost $800.00 a week to have someone come in while we were at work. Imagine!

Ralph was in Trenton, Ontario this week. He just got back yesterday. He has gone to play a makeup curling game this morning. This afternoon he, San and I are going to her apartment to see if they have finished putting down the laminate floors and clean up. We will then pick up Trish and Joe and we are all going out to supper. Right now I am doing stuff for work as it is a very hectic time right now. Gotta go, what I have been waiting for to print is ready for me and I have to get at it. I promise to check in sooner from now on.

Georgina and the Monster!

My friend Rachel and her partner Gordon came over for dinner last night...bringing their daughter Georgina who is 17 months old. We had Chicken Parmesan and Spinach-Ricotta Pasta Bake, very good. The best part though was the two-bite brownies with Rachels' homemade hot fudge sauce and ice cream....look out waistline!
After dinner Georgina was playing on the floor with Dad's curling good luck charm and our very own "baby" took a special interest in her, with every squeak or throw of a toy, Jake was on the case to see if he could:
a) help
b) eat something that may have fallen
c) lick Gina in passing just so she knew she was welcome in his "pack"
She was a trooper though considering she had a towering mass of fur following her every move. She would brush him aside and say something that sounded like "Jake!" or "roggie" or "doo-coo-caa-choo!" All of which Jake loved.
Hope everyone had a lovely Sunday
