Jake and his new bed

Ralph snapped this picture when he cam downstairs this morning. Proof that Jake does go on his new bed. We bought him this bed just before he was operated on because we knew he would not be able to climb stairs to get on the bed anytime soon.

Would he go near the bed? No sir! We tried everything to entice him on but no way. Then this week apparently Trish has been laying down on it with him and I guess her scent must be on there because he is laying on it now.

I am frying eggrolls. I got 102 out of this batch. They should last a few weeks, at least until the Grad party that Ralph is having.

Last few days of April

This is a picture of part of the Salt Marsh Trail in Dartmouth, N.S. When we lived in Dartmouth we used to take Jake for walks there. It is quite a beautiful walk. The trail is part of the Canada Trail. It was damaged quite significantly during Juan but I see that they have built it back up.

Jake is coming along. He is feeling better and wants to do more than he should. He is quite adapt at using the ramp now and does not seem to mind it at all.

I went to a photographer on Tuesday night (a friend of Tricia's ) and had my grad/family photos done. Once we purchase them I will post one on here. They came out not too bad except I look old! HaHa.

Everything is fine here. Trish and Joe have gone into Halifax for the night so it is just Ralph, Jake and I here. I am making the filling for egg rolls ( I will fry them in the morning) and Ralph is watching a John Wayne movie and Jake is doing his usual, sleeping. We have some new neighbours on the right. The young couple that lived there suddenly sold and moved out and Ralph tells me that the new people moved in on Friday.

Ralph was fishing with his friend John up in the Branch today. He tells me he got three but that it is still too cold for them to be running. It was sunny here today but the wind is cold and from the north. Hopefully it will warm up once May hits.

Poor Jakie

Here is our poor Baby after his surgery on his knee. Not only is his whole leg shaved but as you can see the hair is gone on the right front paw also and he has a patch off his back where they put in the epidural. He is walking on it and he is peeing, eating and sleeping so I guess he will be okay.

Joe built a ramp on the steps out on the deck so that Jake can get up and down to go to the bathroom. At first we did not think that he would go on it at all but he has now gotten used to it and will walk up and down the ramp pretty well. We have pain medication that we put on his food once a day so either that is doing the trick or he has no pain because he does not seem to be in any distress.

I don't know how we are going to keep him as inactive as possible for two months but that is what the vet wants us to do. He can only go outside on the leash and for two months no walks, no daycare, no playing with the ball etc. etc. But, after that he should be back to his old self and be able to do everything he was doing before.

I have finished university!!! All I have to do now is wait to make sure that my name appears on the graduation list and I am good to go. I am getting my grad picture done on Tuesday night. Some of them will have the whole family in it so I will scan and post here.

Must go, little tired tonight as we were down home today and back and that is a 2.5 hour drive one way. San went to do a clinic in Shelburne and Ralph and I went and put a down payment on a piece of land in Barrington Passage. We are going to build our retirement home there in three years.

Bye for now.

HAPPY EASTER

Hope everyone is having a good Easter Sunday morning. As you can see the kids have been getting poor old Jake geared up already. Joe hid 200 chocolate eggs all around the house and so far the girls have found all but 10. I guess I will find them sometime when I am cleaning.

Joe's parents are coming over for dinner. I will spend most of the day studying again. My final exam is on Tuesday night.

Jake has to go in on Wednesday to have an operation on his knee. He blew a tendon and it must be repaired. Ralph says that he is trying to catch up with his four knee operations. Maybe this is hereditary. From father to son, haha. Poor Buddy, he will be recuperating for two months which means no walks off leash and no daycare. He can't walk very well, he walks with a limp.

Haven't been updating this very regularly and I apologize for that. Once I finish school for good next week I will have time hopefully to do these things.

Have a happy Easter Day and try not to eat too much chocolate.
