Happy Birthday to Doris, Happy Birthday to me.

Because it is my 53rd birthday today you would think that I should have something meaningful and significant to say about my 53 years on this earth but I really don't. I have done a lot of things that I never thought I would such as going to Europe, graduating from university, living several places in Canada etc. etc. There are still many things that I want to do and will do. I do not feel "old" at all. Heck I just started running and plan to keep that up so hopefully I will be around a long time yet.

I do want to show a picture here of what I consider my greatest accomplishment in my life and that is my two wonderful girls, Sandra and Patricia. This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago.

So, Happy Birthday to me and to everyone else out there celebrating the big day today. I know that Cathy Lee Gifford and Madonna have birthdays today and yes, Elvis died 29 years ago today.

From the sounds of the weather report this morning it looks like we are in for a stretch of good weather here in the maritimes. Hurrah, about time.

First week of vacation

Ralph and I are back in Halifax after our first week of summer vacation. We were at a cottage in Beaver Dam, Shelburne county last week. Here are a couple of shots that we took. The lake itself was just outside the cottage. Jake was in the lake at least 15 times a day. He did more wading than swimming. There were a couple of dogs across the road so he had some friends and of course his cousins Buster (Velvet's dog) and Missy(Donna's dog) and Eddie (Loran's dog) came to visit and play. As you can see from the picture the lake was really red. It had a lot of silt in it. Donna said that it has always been like that as long as she can remember.

Ralph loved it, he just read and slept and went in the water and then did it all over again. I spent a bit of my time going back and forth to the hospital in Shelburne as my Mom has been hospitalized for about a week now. She is having a problem with her bowels and she is scheduled for a colonostomy tomorrow which will hopefully show what the problem is. I am now in my second week of vacation. I think that I could get used to this not working. Oh well, I am sure by the time another week goes by I will be ready to go back to work.

The weather here is sunny today but boy it has sure cooled off. It does not get that hot during the day and it is really cold in the early morning. Must go do some housework and then this afternoon Ralph and I are taking Sandra home into Halifax.

Hello Everybody

I guess that all of the Murphy family is getting ready to come East for Jean's 90th Birthday celebration. This event is going to take place on August 19th up at the Branch. Ralph and I and Jake are leaving tomorrow for a cottage on Beaver Dam Lake for the week. Looking forward to it very much and hope to be able to spend a lot of time in the water with Jake.

We attended Andrea and Nathan 's wedding yesterday. Andrea is Sandra's best friend and she got married on the cliff at Lawrencetown where Tricia got married. The day was beautiful and everything went off without a hitch. Here are a couple of pictures. The Bridesmaids wore green, yellow, pink, mauve and light blue. The reception was held at Boondocks in Eastern Passage on the Boardwalk.

Ralph, Sandra and I are going to be getting up early tomorrow so that I can go in my first official run. The Dartmouth Natal Day two miler. The run starts at 8:15 a.m. so we are going to have to leave her quite early. I don't plan to run very fast so San is running with me and Ralph will finish and come back and meet me.
