As soon as Mom mentions something the opposite happens and now Nova Scotia is in for five days of snow! Let's all ask her to say we never win the lottery....

The year of no winter

It almost seems that this is what we here in Atlantic Canada are going to be able to say soon. It is now the 22nd of January and we have not one snowflake on the ground. Yesterday it was 10 degrees celcius. Today is colder, about -6. Supposed to warm up again though as the week goes on. Trish and Joe just left to go to Joe's parents for the day and San is down in the family room on the couch. She came home because she is sick and wanted her Mom to look after her. I guess even Doctors need their mommies when they are not feeling well.

Fried a bunch of eggrolls this morning and now I have to get cracking on the school books. Ralph just left for his Sunday curling game so the house is pretty quiet for a change. A lot more activity around the place then there was this time last year that's for sure.

Jake is certainly enjoying all of the people around because if someone gets tired of petting him he just goes to someone else.

Hard to say Good-bye

If anyone has been checking this site I apologize for not posting but this has been a difficult week for all of the family. We lost Ethel to her battle with cancer last Sunday and we have all been trying to come to terms with it in our own ways for the last little while. Although we can all understand that she is no longer in pain and suffering and that is a good thing, we also will miss her and don't want her to be gone. I will update Ethel's blog one more time with the family's thoughts and pictures about her.

As most of you know Tricia and her husband Joe are now living with Ralph and I and will be until probably August. They have pretty much settled in and we are managing to give each other space, I would guess having this larger house helps with that. San was in Shelburne yesterday. She has set up a satellite clinic there and will be going down one Saturday a month.

As you can see from the last posting on this site(done by my twin nephews, Brett and Drew), my sister Velvet was down last weekend to take her oldest son Chris to the airport to leave for Borden. We heard from him late on Saturday night just for a moment to let her know he had made it there safe and sound. She is anxiously awaiting another call or email to let her know how his first week went.

I have started yoga on Monday nights and my classes on Tuesday night and Tricia and I have started going to T.O.P.S. on Wednesday nights so the weeks are going to fly by. Just finished watching a piece on CBC Sunday News about the election. It was very informative and gave me much more information to think about then the debates did. Don't forget to vote, especially the women. Many women fought very hard to get the vote for us, so please use your rights. There are many countries in the world where your government is forced upon you so we as Canadians are fortunate indeed to have the opportunity to choose who we want to lead us.

So long for now. I'll try and get on here more than I have been.

Hi from Drew and Brett

Hi everybody I don't know who is reading this but hi. Today our brother Chris went on his plane to Montreal and then he went on another plane to Toronto and then he went on a bus to Borden Ont.We do not know why the Miltary didn't give him a direct flight.Also we did cry when he left. We went to see the Polar Express in 3D & IMAX.It was awesome.The train came right at you and stopped right in front of your nose.It was kind of freaky when the girls ticket hit the train because the ticket was so close and then the train was right there all of a sudden.
Last night we played Cranium adult Cranium not kiddie Cranium.we played with Trish,Joey,aunt Dode,mom/Velvet and Chris.Sadly my team lost (Brett is saying that) of course we did have Doris.
We want to say Hi to Carla's kids and their puppy, he is adorable!

Ralph needs to get his own blog

Someone is hovering over my shoulder here as I try to write on this blog. Big hint, it is not Jake. Not to much to talk about tonight. Ralph is leaving in the morning to go to Shelburne for the weekend to curl. Tricia and Joe are going over to the MacMillans to watch football this weekend and Velvet and I will take the twins to see the 3D version of "The Polar Express".

I have a kink in my neck that I am trying to work out, I've had it for a couple of days now. I must go find a tennis ball and rub that on it.

So this is 2006

I can hardly believe that the New Year is already here. I have to go back to work tomorrow and even though I have been off for almost two weeks I wish I had more time off. I think that I could get used to being home all day. The weather here this season has been really good. Hardly any snow on the ground and the coldest it has been getting is around -2.

San is out today for the night and of course Trish and Joe are here so Ralph and I are finding plenty to do. We went to a New Year's Eve dance at the Air Force Association in Truro. Stayed the night with Carol.

My sister Velvet and her three sons will be coming this Friday. Velvet, myself and her twins will be taking her son Chris to the airport where he will be catching his flight to Toronto and then on to Base Borden to begin his basic training for the military.

I am cooking a ham for supper and I also have soup on cooking for lunches this week.

Must go, I have to make my bed and put clothes away and then finish getting supper.

As always my thoughts are with Ethel as I am sure everyone else's is. She is back home today from the hospital. We haven't called there yet today but we will later.
